FAQs

Clear Answers to Common Questions

We know women often have thoughtful questions when considering care, especially around hormone therapy and visit options. Below are answers to the questions we hear most often.

If you don’t see your question here, our team is happy to help.

Hormone Therapy

Is hormone therapy safe?

Hormone therapy can be appropriate for some women when it is prescribed thoughtfully and monitored over time. Safety depends on individual health history, symptoms, timing, and response to treatment.

At Plano Wellness, hormone therapy decisions are individualized and reviewed regularly to ensure care remains appropriate.

No. Hormone changes can begin years before menopause and may affect how you feel and function over time.

Care decisions are based on symptoms, health history, and clinical evaluation — not just age or a specific stage.

Not necessarily. Hormone therapy requires careful dosing, monitoring, and adjustment. If treatment is not appropriately tailored or followed closely, it may not be effective.

A thoughtful re-evaluation can sometimes help clarify next steps or alternative options.

Hormone therapy is not a cure-all and is not appropriate for every concern. When recommended, it is considered as part of an overall care plan that takes multiple aspects of health into account.

Your provider will discuss benefits, limitations, and considerations openly so you can make informed decisions.

Visits & Providers

Will I see Dr. Diaz at my visit?

Routine well-woman annual visits are typically provided by our nurse practitioners, who specialize in women’s health and work closely with Dr. Diaz.

Dr. Diaz focuses on complex gynecologic concerns, surgical care, extended wellness visits, and oversight of hormone therapy. If additional evaluation is needed, care is coordinated directly with her.

Yes. Our nurse practitioners specialize in women’s health and follow the same care standards and clinical protocols established at Plano Wellness.

They work collaboratively with Dr. Diaz, and care is escalated when appropriate.

If your nurse practitioner identifies concerns that require further evaluation — including the need for additional testing or surgical consultation — you will be scheduled to see Dr. Diaz for a separate visit.

Extended Wellness Visits & Payment

What is an Extended Wellness Visit?

An Extended Wellness Visit is a longer, physician-led appointment with Dr. Diaz designed for women who want additional time to discuss complex concerns, wellness goals, or hormone-related questions.

These visits allow for broader discussion and individualized planning beyond the scope of a routine annual exam.

No. Extended Wellness Visits are offered as a direct-pay service and are not covered by insurance.

This allows additional time, flexibility, and a broader scope of wellness care. Pricing and details are explained clearly before scheduling.

No. Many Our patients receive excellent care through routine visits with our nurse practitioners.

Extended Wellness Visits are an option for women who prefer or benefit from additional time and physician-led wellness care.
